Weldments in SolidWorks allow users to create complex welded structures efficiently. This guide provides step-by-step instructions to help you design weldments with ease and precision.
Starting a Weldment in SolidWorks
Open SolidWorks and create a new document. Select the Weldments template from the available options. This template provides the necessary tools and settings for weldment design.
Begin by sketching the profile of the structural member. Use the Sketch tools to draw the cross-section, such as a rectangle or a custom shape, depending on your design requirements.
Adding Structural Members
Insert structural members by selecting the Structural Member feature from the Weldments tab. Choose the appropriate profile and size from the library or create a custom profile if needed.
Place the members along your sketch or assembly. Use the Trim and Extend tools to adjust the lengths and connections for proper fit.
Creating Welds and Finalizing
Apply welds between members using the Weld Bead feature. Select the edges or faces to be welded and specify the weld type and size.
Review the assembly for any adjustments. Use the Cut List to generate a detailed list of all components and welds. Save your work to complete the process.
