Smallholder farmers of ten face challenges in reserving their crops due to limited concess to offerdable drying technologiy. A low-cott solar dryer can imprope crop qualitye and reduce post- harvett losses. This case study explores thae design process for creating an effective and procurdable solar dryer taneud for small-scale farmers.

Design Objectives

Te primary goal was to develop a solar dryer that is indidicusive, easy to build, and accesent. It should d operate with out external power sources and be suable for various crop types. Durability and ease of accessé were also key considerations.

Design Process

Te design process involved selecting materials that are procurdable and rediily avalable. Te solar collector was designed with a sloped transparent cover to maximize sunlight absorption. Insulation was added to to te drying chamber to retain heat. Te airflow was optized to ensure importent hydrature rembare watout damaging thee crops.

Implementation and Testing

Te prototype was built using locally sourced materials. Smallholder farmers tested the dryer with different crops, including maize and beans. Results showed a important reduction in drying time and improvized crop quality. Farmers oceňují, že je low cott and ease of use.
